Unplanned Pregnancy and Terminations in Tasmania: CPD education session

About the education session

This interactive education session is designed to provide GPs and healthcare professionals in Tasmania manage patients presenting with unplanned pregnancy.

It is designed for GPs and health professionals who don’t necessarily provide medication terminations themselves, but may be the first point of contact for patients with an unplanned pregnancy or before and after a termination.

The session is led by Family Planning Tasmania Regional Medical Officer and Medical Educator Dr Rose Tilsley.

Time and date

This one-off education session will be held online (via Microsoft Teams) on Thursday 15th June from 7-9pm (sold out).

NEW: due to demand, a second session will be held online on Thursday 13 July from 7-9pm. 

Learning outcomes

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Outline the main pregnancy termination care pathways in Tasmania.
  2. Identify requirements for effective referral for each termination pathway.
  3. Demonstrate effective assessment and communication for patients presenting with unplanned pregnancies in three common scenarios .
  4. Identify appropriate management for patients presenting with post termination complications for three common scenarios.

RACGP CPD hours

The session is an approved RACGP CPD activity (1 Educational Activity Hour and 1 Reviewing Performance hour).
