Happy Harmony Day, Australia! Today, we celebrate our cultural diversity and inclusivity. Let's also remember the importance of sexual and reproductive health in promoting overall well-being and equality. Everyone deserves access to accurate information, healthcare, and support for their sexual and reproductive health needs, regardless of their background or beliefs. Let's continue to work together towards a harmonious and healthy society for all. #HarmonyDay #SexualHealth #ReproductiveHealth #Inclusivity #Diversity

Today, 16 March, is National Close the Gap day. On this day, we acknowledge the ongoing disparities in health outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, including in sexual and reproductive health.
Access to sexual and reproductive healthcare is a basic human right, yet Indigenous Australians continue to face significant barriers in accessing these services. This can result in poorer health outcomes, including higher rates of sexually transmitted infections, unplanned pregnancies, and maternal and infant mortality.
We must work together to ensure that Indigenous Australians have access to culturally safe and appropriate sexual and reproductive healthcare services. This includes supporting Indigenous-led healthcare initiatives, increasing the number of Indigenous healthcare professionals, and addressing social and economic factors that can impact health outcomes. Family Planning Tasmania welcomes Indigenous Tasmanians into our clinics and education services and aims to make our service an inclusive and safe space.
Let us all take a moment to honour the resilience and strength of Indigenous communities, and to pledge our support for a future where every person, regardless of their background, has access to the healthcare they need and deserve.

IUDs (intrauterine devices- a form of contraception) should be accessible to everyone, no matter their financial capability.
We at Family Planning Tasmania echo the call for an increase to the IUD rebates for both hormonal IUDs and copper IUDs.
Copper IUDs are a great contraceptive option for those not wanting hormonal contraception and who would like to continue having their period, but are currently cost-prohibitive for many. Read the great article by the ABC below for more information about copper IUDs, or visit our website - fpt.org.au .
