Family Planning Tasmania Attends Tasman District School Health Expo

On the 8 March, Family Planning Tasmania was proud to attend the Tasman District School Health Expo at the Tasman District School in Nubeena. This rural youth-focused health promotion event aimed to educate young people about healthy lifestyles and provide them with information about a range of health-related topics.

The event was a great success, with students showing a high level of engagement and enthusiasm for the various activities on offer. Family Planning Tasmania led the ‘What Will You Catch’ activity, which was very popular with many students wanting to participate multiple times. Family Planning Tasmania staff provided students with information about safe sex practices, the importance of consent, and how to access sexual and reproductive health services.

The use of condoms is an important part of sexual health, and it is encouraging to see young people taking an interest in this area. With the support and guidance of organisations like Family Planning Tasmania, young people can make informed choices about their sexual health and well-being. The staff at Tasman District School recognised the importance of this activity and were supportive of it, even if some students may have been younger than the legal age of consent. This is because providing age and stage-appropriate education and resources about sexual and reproductive health is crucial for all young people.

As an organisation dedicated to promoting sexual and reproductive health, Family Planning Tasmania is committed to providing access to information and resources to support the health and well-being of all Tasmanians. We are proud to have been a part of the Tasman District School Health Expo and to have had the opportunity to engage with young people and provide them with the information they need to make informed choices about their sexual health.

Overall, the Tasman District School Health Expo was a great success, and it is encouraging to see young people taking an active interest in their health and well-being. By providing access to information and resources about healthy lifestyles, including sexual and reproductive health, we can help young people to make informed choices and lead happier, healthier lives. We look forward to attending similar events in the future and continuing to promote sexual and reproductive health in Tasmania.
