Relationship and Sexual Health Community Workers – statewide
Our Relationship and Sexual Health Community Workers deliver high quality sexual and reproductive health education services in schools, universities and workplaces around Tasmania.
For medical professionals
Our Medical Practitioners deliver high quality sexual and reproductive health care to those people accessing Family Planning Tasmania clinics.
Family Planning Tasmania supports over 13,000 patients a year to improve their sexual and reproductive health through its three clinics in Glenorchy, Launceston and Burnie.

Requirements for working with us
1. Sexual and Reproductive Health Certificate
All doctors working at Family Planning Tasmania must have successfully completed the FPAA Certificate in SRH for Doctors.
This consists of a theory component, theory examination and seven practical sessions where the applicant’s competencies are assessed. Find out more about the SRH Certificate and the practical sessions at Family Planning Tasmania here.
The theory component typically involves a 4/5 day face-to-face or online course. It can’t currently be completed in Tasmania but is provided by various Family Planning organisations interstate. Information about the course from Sexual Health Victoria, Melbourne, can be found here.
2. All of our GPs insert IUDs and must undertake our IUD insertion training, which involves one theory session and usually three clinical sessions.
3. All of our GPs are involved in the provision of Medication Termination of Pregnancy (MTOP) and must undertake MS-2 Step online training.
4. All of our GPs must hold Vocational Registration (VR).

Volunteering with Family Planning Tasmania
Board Member Expressions of Interest
The Board of Family Planning Tasmania is a voluntary board. We accept expressions of interest to join our Board on an ongoing basis.
The Family Planning Tasmania (FPT) Board is responsible for the overall governance, management, and strategic direction of (FPT) in accordance with the organisation’s goals and objectives. Board members are required to attend six full board meetings per year on a voluntary basis. The total time commitment averages around 30-40 hours per year, dependent on the board schedule.
