Family Planning Tasmania Engages Students at Newstead College Health Expo 2023
On 2nd May, 2023, Family Planning Tasmania had the joy of attending the Newstead College Health Expo in Launceston. The event was attended by approximately 300 people, including around 50 students who participated in an interactive activity – What Will You Catch – to raise awareness about sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Family Planning Tasmania was proud to be among the service providers present at the event, including headspace, the Migrant Resource Centre, and Head to Health. Our representatives, Jess and Deb, were present at our stand throughout the day, providing sexual and reproductive health advice to interested attendees.
We were thrilled to see that around 200 students dropped by our stand, eager to take advantage of the resources we offered, including postcards, condoms, and stickers (which proved to be very popular). Deb, our nurse, was on hand to offer advice and answer any questions students had about sexual and reproductive health.
Overall, the event was a huge success, with everyone who attended being highly engaged and eager to learn. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in events like these and look forward to attending more in the future.
Family Planning Tasmania is committed to providing accessible and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services and resources to all Tasmanians. Events like the Newstead College Health Expo are an excellent way to reach out to young people and promote healthy decision-making around sexual health.
